What is the domain lock/unlock option ?

The Lock/Unlock Domain tool allows you to change the status of a domain name at the registry between what the registry calls "ACTIVE" and "REGISTRAR-LOCK". The registry may also refer to "REGISTRAR-LOCK" as "CLIENT-TRANSFER-PROHIBITED" or similar.

Although many registrars charge for this service, we think it is an essential security precaution.

To prevent domain name hijacking (theft of your domain name by an unauthorised person transferring to another registrar and changing your details) always leave your domain LOCKED unless you are authorising its transfer to another registrar.
